When you call for an appointment the receptionist will ask several
questions to try and ascertain which counsellor is the best "fit" for
you. There are a number of questions that will be asked to help arrive
at a decision.
The following checklist on this page may help you to refine your request and limit the number of questions that we need to ask.
- Would you prefer to see a male or female counsellor?
- Do you have private health insurance?
- Are you being referred through a GP?
If referred through a doctor have you completed a
Mental Health Care Plan
or an Extended Care Plan? If so, please let us know when you are making the appointment.
Is the reason for your appointment related to unresolved trauma, chronic condition, family/personal/parenting relationships, career choices or some other reason?
If so, the specialist counselling section of this page may help you to select a counsellor.
How urgently do you require to see a counsellor?
The more urgent the need the less choice will be available. However, there is no problem in changing counsellors. Changing counsellors is OK and all of our counsellors monitor such changes to make sure that your interests are foremost.
